ARCHITECTS

STEVEN HARRIS ARCHITECTS

Established in 1985, Steven Harris Architects is an award-winning design firm based in New York City. The firm has extensive experience in both public and private commissions, with a particular skill and fondness for residential design.

The firm takes a collaborative approach to design by fostering an open exchange of ideas both within the office and with clients. Because the design process is individually tailored to the site, context, and the client’s needs, each of the firm’s projects takes on a unique character and appearance. Renowned for impeccably crafted and expertly managed projects, the firm is particularly adept at navigating the complex approvals process of cooperative boards, the NYC Department of Buildings, and the Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Ongoing projects include the renovation of the Barneys New York and Los Angeles department stores, the restoration of a historic Edward Durrell stone house, the design of luxury villas for a hillside site in Vietnam, the restoration of a 15th century tower in Croatia, and the design of private residences in New York City, upstate New York, the Hamptons, California, and Europe. The firm has received several awards from the American Institute of Architects as well as Interior Design Best of Year awards in 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011. It has also been featured in numerous books, including, most recently, House, by Diane Keaton, Remodelista, and Restoring a House in the City. The firm’s first monograph, True Life, was published in 2010 by Princeton Architectural Press and explores the connection between architecture and the lived experience. The firm’s second monograph will be released in 2014.

DXA STUDIO

DXA Studio’s partners Jordan Rogove & Wayne Norbeck’s expertise spans an uncommonly broad spectrum of project types including multi-family and single family residential, commercial, institutional, hotel and event design. DXA provides an uncommon balance of highly crafted design and exceptional project management, with particular adeptness at landmarks, loft board and zoning approvals, and NYC City Planning and Uniform Land Use Review Procedures.

DXA Studio's current work includes adaptive-reuse, mixed-use, residential projects at 7 Harrison, 338 Berry Street and 140 West Street. Additionally, DXA is designing four ground up single-family townhouses for private clients ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 SF, a 15 story commercial tower in the Lower East Side, multiple performance venues including the famed Blue Note jazz club and the Highline Ballroom, and is working on a sustainable and health-focused development in St. Marc, Haiti as a result of winning an international design competition.

At DXA Studio, a project begins with an open exchange of ideas and collaboration. The client’s program and desires, along with the complexities of the project’s site are used to create a conceptual framework by which an architecture of distinctive identity, clarity, and ingenuity is created.
